Julie - A Victim of Drugs

The book “Julie – A Victim of Drugs” relates the tragic story of Julie, a young and charming girl living at Poudre d’Or, a small village situated in the northern part of Mauritius.

Since Julie was born, her father had always dreamed of seeing her become a doctor. Julie was a devoted and obedient daughter who respected her parents. She was also an exceptionally brilliant student, always ranking first in her class at college. Because of her dedication and intelligence, she earned great admiration from both her teachers and classmates.

However, Julie’s life changed completely after she met Clifford, a playboy and a drug addict. Under his influence, Julie gradually lost interest in her studies and her promising future began to disappear.

When Clifford eventually abandoned her, Julie became trapped in a dangerous world of drugs and prostitution. Her life took a tragic turn, leaving her vulnerable to serious consequences.

One day, Julie collapsed in the college yard and was immediately taken to hospital. After medical examinations and careful diagnosis, doctors discovered that her condition was extremely serious. She was suffering not only from the effects of drug abuse but also from AIDS.

Unfortunately, Julie could not overcome her illness. She passed away and was buried in the cemetery near the church in her locality, surrounded by grieving friends and relatives. Her parents were devastated, feeling as though their entire world had collapsed.

The moral message of “Julie – A Victim of Drugs” is a powerful warning to students and teenagers to stay away from drugs and avoid experiencing similar tragedies.

It reminds society that drug abuse destroys individuals, families and communities. Everyone has a responsibility to work together to fight against the spread of drugs and protect future generations from its harmful consequences.
